Gartner recently released new predictions for the role cybersecurity will play in businesses worldwide. In recent years, cybersecurity has become a greater priority for organizations as more teams are operating virtually. Experts from Gartner predict that 40% of corporate boards will have a specific security committee by 2025. As covid-19 has heightened the risk of cybersecurity, it’s predicted that asset-intensive businesses will combine all of their security teams into one chief security officer role by 2025 as well. While these predictions seem promising, at the moment a majority of board directors don’t feel confident about their organization’s cybersecurity plans. Lastly, it’s expected that CISOs will step into a larger role within companies in the next few years and forge valuable relationships with executives in other departments such as sales and finance.
