Two new rules recently introduced by The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) are pushing to create less barriers for cybersecurity tech donations and improve care coordination. These rules were first introduced in October 2019 with the goal of removing any obstacles healthcare providers may face when accepting cybersecurity tools and donations. All healthcare organizations face the risk of data breaches and it’s important that any facility no matter the size receives the tools to stay safe. The new rules were created to allow for more flexibility in donation arrangements and for faster integration into healthcare systems. Groups like the Healthcare Sector Coordinating Council have been pushing for increased cybersecurity donations for a few years now and the HHS has met most of their demands. While healthcare providers are facing large demands in light of COVID-19, rules like these will hopefully help systems run more efficiently.
