The hospitality and retail industries took a major hit during covid and as they’ve began to bounce back, a cyberattack could be detrimental to their businesses. With the threat of a cyberattack always looming, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is partnering with the Retail and Hospitality ISAC (RH-ISAC) to complete a day of cybersecurity training in June 2021. The event will host C-suite executives and information security teams with the hope that they have the opportunity to practice different scenarios and discuss their threat responses. Different practice scenarios will include executive and operational decision making, which is essential during the event of an actual cyberattack. They will also have the chance to run through plans of how to operate in the event that operational technology like point-of-sale systems are compromised. Overall, this virtual exercise will be essential in preparing the retail industry for a cyberattack and hopefully encourages them to strengthen their cybersecurity.
