Shopify, one of the largest e-commerce platforms in the world, reportedly caught two support staff members accessing customer information. The information included personal data such as physical address and email address but financial data was not compromised. Shopify has notified the almost 200 merchants that were impacted by the incident. The two employees involved were fired and now face an investigation with the FBI and other agencies. It is to be noted that this was exclusively an insider incident and does not reflect any security vulnerabilities within Shopify’s system.
