The New York S.H.I.E.L.D Act, also known as the Stop Hacks and Improve Electronic Data Act, went into effect March 2020. The SHIELD Act amends New York’s existing data breach law that requires anyone who conducts business in New York to notify data subjects for whom they collect or store personal information of any unauthorized disclosures of their personal data.
