Last month, it was reported that the Chinese government potentially stole the personal identifiable information of 80% of American adults. It’s thought that China is working to gather DNA and health information from Americans after a Chinese health company, BGI Group, offered to build Covid-19 testing labs in six states. Cybersecurity officials were able to warn the states about this potential threat before they accepted the offers. This news come in light of the claims that China wants to dominate the future drug and healthcare industries. Officials also warn that patients’ personal health information (PHI) isn’t as secure as it should be and more cybersecurity measures should be taken to keep it secure.
